InvestingForTwo is a blog dedicated to teaching and sharing about investing and self-improvement. Visitors to this website may post comments. Some content and data on our website are available to members only.
If you object to any changes, you may contact us to delete your account if you have created one with us.
Data we collect
Data you provide us
If you create an account with us, you need to provide your email. In addition, we will also collect data about which country you signed up from.
If you choose a premium membership plan, you will need to provide payment (e.g., credit card) and billing information. All payment is handled by Stripe and no information is stored on our servers.
You may update your member profile with personal information, such as a profile image, name and description. This is completely optional.
Any comments and images that you leave on our posts, articles and pages will be stored. If you sign in while commenting, your name, website URL and Gravatar may also be stored.
If you sign in to comment using third party solutions, we do not store any of your login data (email, password) on our servers.
If you create an account with us instead of signing in through a third party, we will store your email and your encrypted password. Your plain text password is never stored.
If you contact us through our contact form, your data passes through Google Forms. You will provide us with your email, name and a corresponding message, and agree to let us contact you back through your provided email.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use Google Analytics to monitor traffic information on our website. As such, we collect information such as country location, platform (mobile or web), pages you visit, links you click and time spent on pages.
We do not collect information that is personally identifiable.
How we use your data
Sign in functions
Generally, we use data such as your email to sign you in as a member to our website. Other miscellaneous data, such as your name, profile description and profile picture, are for your own perusal or support purposes.
If you sign in to comment through an account created on our website commenting platform, we use your email and password to sign you in.
We use your comment's text and images to display the comment on the site, which can be seen, replied and voted upon by other users.
Your comment is also subject to deletion without any notice to you by our moderators. We will not edit your comments in any way.
We use your payment information to charge you if you sign up for a premium membership. This membership can be cancelled at any time, whereby the charges will stop.
Newsletter and marketing
If you chose to sign up as a member or subscribed to our newsletter, we will occasionally send you emails of the latest posts and articles. We may also send you marketing materials to the email you have provided us.
If you no longer want to receive such emails from us, you can unsubscribe from our newsletter by clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of any email. We will still store your email, but you will no longer get any emails from us.
We will use the email you provided us to contact you back.
How we share information
We also share information with Mailgun, which we use for sending emails and newsletters to you. We share with them your email if you have provided it to us either by signing up as a member, contacting us, or any other way.
If and when we have advertisements, we will also share non personally identifiable information about your browsing habits, interests, location and demographics with advertisers as required by their network for the display of target advertisements.
Your choices and obligations
We generally retain your personal data as long as you keep your account open. This includes data you or others provided to us and data generated or inferred from your use of our website.
In some cases, data may be retained in a non personally identifiable form for an indefinite amount of time, even if you just visit the website once for analytics and advertising purposes.
Rights to access and control your data
Other than third party non personally identifiable data which are outside our control and jurisdiction, we provide you control over the data you choose to keep with us that are identifiable on our website.
For personal data we have about you, you can:
- Delete data: You can ask us to delete your personal data (such as account information and comments) if you no longer want them stored on our servers. We are not able to delete accounts used to sign up for our commenting platform at this moment.
- Change or correct data: You may change or edit the data yourself through your account. You can also ask us to change, update or fix your data in certain cases, particularly if it’s inaccurate.
You may also contact us and we will consider your request in accordance with applicable laws.
Other important information
Our website is secured using HTTPS. This means that any data you send or receive on our site are encrypted in transit.
We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. However, we cannot warrant the security of any information that you send us. There is no guarantee that data may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
